Are You Leading a System or Shaping a Culture? Rethinking School Leadership
Session Summary:
The greatest challenge in schools today isn't curriculum, resources, or students—it's leadership that prioritises systems over people. This dynamic, interactive workshop dismantles traditional assumptions about school leadership, moving beyond titles and compliance to explore how leadership is truly experienced: through culture, wellbeing, trust, and human connection. Through live reflections, collaborative design challenges, and practical frameworks, participants shift from control to influence, hierarchy to shared ownership, performance to purpose. Join this session to:
• Analyse the fundamental difference between leading through structures and policies versus leading through values and shared purpose
• Implement practical leadership strategies that shift focus from performance metrics to wellbeing and purpose—using collaborative design challenges to prototype approaches that make schools feel different, not just function differently
• Assess your current leadership approach by examining how it is experienced by teachers, students, and families
• Develop reflective practices and feedback mechanisms that reveal gaps between espoused values and lived reality, enabling continuous alignment between leadership actions and transformational impact
