UAE students spread pride at contest

Dubai: Fifty-seven students from UAE achieved an enormous triumph over thousands of learners across 40 countries at the 22nd International UCMAS Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition 2017 . The consent that assessed students on their agile arithmetic skills was held in Malaysia.

The competition that involved answering a 200 whopping maths problems in a mere eight minutes by listening or viewing the questions among other categories, brought laurels to the country.

Sixty-two children from UAE, from 6 years to 13 years old, participated in the high-intensity, mentally stimulating contest, out of which 8 children bagged the 1st runners up award, while 13 and 36 children received the 2nd or 3rd runners-up awards respectively.

Seven-year-old Niktha Prabhu was the sole UAE winner in the company of 400 international students in the Listening competition. Niktha Prabhu from UCMAS Dubai – Al Nahda won the first runners-up award in the Listening competition in Category A.

As part of commenting on the milestone, the Managing Director of UCMAS UAE VG Soundari Raj said, “This is indeed a proud moment for the UAE, and we would like to offer our heartiest congratulations to all the winners. We are fortunate that our leaders in the UAE have placed the correct emphasis on education and learning.”
