Grade Level Coordinator and AP English Teacher - Al-Bayan Bilingual School
It is with the utmost enthusiasm that I apply to become a GESS speaker. I am no stranger to public speaking having had to do so for numerous roles and in various capacities such as National Honors Society Advisor, AP Worskhop facilitator and Grade Level Coordinator. The foundational aspect of my job description is an English teacher, from Grades 10-12. I have over 17 years of experience, and with my expertise, vast knowledge of the education system internationally, coupled with my genuine, personal and passionate interest in communication and education, I am of the belief that I am a suitable candidate to present a talk. I would like to share with others what I have garnered over the years, especially during the shifts such as now during the Age of AI.

Teacher Relevance in the Age of AI
Session Summary:
This talk is geared towards sharing best practice and encouraging teacher well-being as we move into the Age of AI. Along with many other teachers, there's been uncertainty about our role, especially when students have all the information they need with just a prompt to ChatGPT. However, through reflection, collegial conversations, and research, the conclusion emerges that teachers are very much still needed—perhaps even more than ever. What might look different is how we engage our learners, which may require innovative and active strategies to manage AI use and engage students effectively. Join this session to:
• Discover why teachers remain essential and increasingly relevant in the age of AI, moving beyond information delivery to focus on critical thinking, creativity, and human connection that AI cannot replace
• Learn innovative and active engagement strategies that effectively manage AI use in the classroom while enhancing rather than replacing meaningful teacher-student interactions
• Gain practical insights and best practices that support teacher well-being and professional confidence, transforming uncertainty about AI into empowerment through evolved pedagogical approaches
