Tania Mackie
Director, International Safeguarding & Digital Transformation - Lightspeed Systems
At Lightspeed Systems, I focus on advancing student safety and educational effectiveness at scale. Our mission is to give schools the visibility, insight, and control they need to create safe, inclusive, and effective digital learning environments.
As Director of International Safeguarding & Digital Transformation, I lead global programmes, frameworks, & campaigns supporting schools, education systems, & policymakers in addressing the real challenges of digital learning, particularly online safety, safeguarding, and responsible technology use. My role sits at the intersection of education, technology, policy, and public impact.
I work as a strategic advisor and thought leader across international markets, collaborating with schools, ministries, regulators, and partners to translate evidence and policy into practical, measurable change. This also supports Lightspeed’s global growth by shaping national and regional narratives that enable innovation while protecting students.
I bring over 25 years’ experience in UK education leadership, including roles as Head Teacher, Strategic Lead for Digital Education, and Quality Improvement Manager, alongside leadership of specialist services such as Assistive Technology and Inclusion.
Safeguarding is no longer just policy, it is the foundation of trust, wellbeing, and learning. Digital transformation without safeguarding is incomplete. Education must be ethical, inclusive, and human-centred.
