Dean of Experiential Learning and Innovation, Deputy Head of School - NEOM
layton Boren is Deputy Head of School at NEOM Education, Research and Innovation in Saudi Arabia, an IB Continuum school founded as part of Vision 2030. He has taught and led across five countries, working within English National Curriculum, American AP and IB frameworks in England, Mexico, Korea, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
His interest in educational technology comes from watching how differently the same tools land in different contexts. As Educational Technology and Innovation Coordinator at Schutz American School in Alexandria, he led school wide professional development on AI platforms, built systems for tracking student progress, and designed a MakerSpace so the space served the learning rather than the reverse. He now works with AI governance and digital learning practice through an international alliance of schools spanning five countries.
Clayton holds a Master of Arts in Secondary Education from the University of Alabama and is fluent in Spanish.

PedTech: Why EdTech Companies Fail in Schools
Session Summary:
Schools do not buy technology. They buy better learning, better teaching, and better outcomes. Too often, EdTech products are designed around features rather than the daily realities of students, teachers, parents, and school leaders. The result is low adoption, implementation fatigue, and missed opportunities. Drawing on experiences leading AI initiatives, technology integration programs, innovation spaces, and school-wide digital transformation efforts, this session introduces the concept of PedTech: the intersection of pedagogy, implementation, and technology. Participants will explore what schools actually need from technology companies and how a deeper understanding of the education ecosystem can drive meaningful adoption and long-term impact.
