Be GLAD

Erick Herrmann is an Elite Trainer and Educational Consultant with Be GLAD. Erick has taught for over 28 years at the high school and elementary levels and as a Teacher on Special Assignment. Trained in the Project GLAD Model in 2001, he was certified as an Elite Trainer by Project GLAD co-creator Marcia Brechtel in 2006. Erick has supported hundreds of school districts and thousands of teachers, both nationally and internationally. He has a high degree of expertise in meeting the educational needs of Multilingual Learners, integrating academic language, literacy and writing instruction into the content areas, and the integration of social emotional learning at all grade levels. Erick has authored over 100 articles on meeting the needs of Multilingual Learners, utilizing AI to plan instruction and to support students and learning, and has a book published on the integration of social emotional learning in the classroom. Mr. Herrmann is deeply committed to high-quality instruction for all students, and models effective, engaging instructional strategies that teachers can immediately use in their classrooms.

Leveraging AI to Support Student Learning Through Purposeful Prompting

Students benefit from well/planned, integrated, thematic units that incorporate strategies that lead students from developing motivation around learning a topic, explicitly learning the content, and applying their learning through rich-language experiences. In this session, we will explore how planning and preparation can be enhanced by leveraging AI to support building units and specific strategies. We will briefly explore how students can also leverage AI in ways that enhance, and not detract from learning.
