Asif Arif is an IB educator, researcher, presenter, and innovator specializing in Digital Society, Computer Science, and Artificial Intelligence in Education at King Faisal School, Riyadh. With international academic and professional experience across Pakistan, Denmark, and Saudi Arabia, he is passionate about creating inquiry-driven and future-focused learning environments that promote critical thinking, research, communication, and holistic learner development.
He is the creator of the CTRC Framework (Cognitive Trigger, Think, Research, Communicate), an innovative instructional model developed through classroom-based research in IBDP classrooms. His research focuses on cognitive development, behavioral engagement, inclusive education, interdisciplinary learning, and the role of AI in transforming modern teaching and learning practices. His work particularly highlights strategies that support low-achieving learners, gifted students, and diverse classroom needs through structured inquiry and reflective learning.
Asif has actively contributed to educational leadership and professional learning initiatives as both a presenter and panelist. In May 2026, he served as a Panelist at the STEAM Fair 2026 hosted by Beech Hall School and presented at the KFS Educational Forum 2026 on “Generative AI and the Future of Education,”. He is Associate Member of Young Leadership Development Program at Indus Foundation of Human Development.

From Spark to Speech - A CTRC Model
Session Summary:
This presentation introduces the CTRC Framework — Cognitive Trigger, Thinking, Research, and Communication — a skill-based pedagogical framework designed to embed the IB's Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills into everyday lesson planning. Grounded in the theories of Vygotsky, Bloom, Dewey, and Hattie, CTRC guides learners through a structured cycle: a thought-provoking stimulus ignites curiosity, deepens thinking, drives purposeful research, and culminates in meaningful written or oral communication. Drawing on classroom data from 14 Grade 12 IBDP Digital Society students collected across two academic terms via ManageBac LMS, observation, and student interviews, the study examines CTRC's impact on cognitive development, behavioral engagement, and formative assessment — collectively understood as Holistic Education. Findings reveal that low and average achievers, including students with Special Educational Needs, demonstrated the most significant gains. Low achievers reduced from 5 to 1, and high achievers grew from 3 to 8 between Term 1 and Term 2. The session will present the CTRC role-based framework, its integration with the 5E lesson planning model, and practical classroom evidence — including student case studies — that bring the framework to life. Participants will leave with a ready-to-use teaching structure applicable across IB and non-IB secondary school contexts.
