Generation Global

Lucy is Director of Generation Global, the global citizenship education programme of the International Baccalaureate. Lucy is passionate about the power of dialogue in transforming the lives of young people to become active, open-minded and global citizens. Under her leadership, the programme has reached over 100,000 young people and over 5,000 educators in more than 50 countries. Ensuring that equity, accessibility, inclusivity and sustainability are at the heart of Generation Global’s values and approach, has been key to the programme’s success. With over twenty years in the international development sector, Lucy’s led global education strategies and programmes, working closely with governments, schools and not for profit partners. During her career at the Institute, as well as her leadership positions at the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, Leonard Cheshire and Christian Aid, she has worked closely with governments and local partners in countries such as Kenya, Rwanda, India and Lebanon, to design and deliver education programmes that have resulted in transformational change in the lives of children, young people and their communities. Lucy has an MSc. degree in Development Management and a BSc. in Development Studies.

In this session, we will explore the powerful intersection of dialogue, global citizenship education, and virtual exchange. Building on the work of Generation Global, this conversation will discuss how digital platforms can connect young people from diverse backgrounds, empowering them to engage in meaningful, open-minded dialogue. We’ll highlight examples of how dialogue can be effectively integrated into diverse curricula, from language learning to social studies and explore how these conversations tackle critical global issues.

Equipping young people with skills for the future of work

What does the future of work look like in 2030 and beyond? How do we prepare young learners to thrive in the future? This session will seek to explore how the world of work may change globally, what skills and attitudes young people may need and what we can do as educators to ensure their work ready. It will also support educators with the practical tools and educational resources to equip themselves and their learners to embark on this journey now.
