Heba Abdo
Dr. Heba Abdo is a strategic K–12 educational leader with more than 20 years of experience advancing curriculum innovation, teacher and leader development, and system-level school improvement across the United States and internationally.
A passionate advocate for teacher agency, Heba believes that empowering educators transforms classrooms and communities and leverages structures such as professional learning communities, reflective coaching, and sustained development systems.
Heba has authored standards-aligned curricula, designed equity-driven professional learning systems, and guided fiscal and instructional strategy to improve outcomes for tens of thousands of students. Signature achievements include developing a mathematics strategic plan for a Florida mega-district; designing and launching a nationwide professional learning program for novice U.S. teachers; and expanding access to AP and Honors coursework in New Jersey by creating differentiated pathways that diversified student participation.
Heba is also a lecturer in Curriculum Design and Teacher Education at Rutgers University. Her doctoral research, recognized with multiple awards, examined teacher evaluation as a formative tool for professional growth. Notably, Heba holds the Distinguished Paper Award from the American Educational Research Association (AERA). She has presented widely on strategic educational management and teacher and instructional leadership, including being an invited speaker at the ASCD.

Career Education: Comparative Armchair Chat
Session Summary:
In this session, you will explore approaches to career preparation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States from their perspectives as both educators and parents. Drawing on the speakers’ professional experiences and their personal journeys supporting children pursuing careers in the medical field, they will reflect on how schools can successfully contribute to students’ long-term career readiness. The session examines how early exposure to career pathways, structured guidance, vocational education, and strong academic preparation can support student decision-making, career-readiness, and long-term happiness and wellness. The session will offer practical recommendations for strengthening career education systems in the Kingdom.
